The BBC have a show running called Soul Music. Today's edition was on Nick Drake and well worth a listen for those that can access it. It's available on BBC Sounds and downloadable here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ypsm
Thank you, Ian, for the welcome and for reading & taking the time to comment. I appreciate your words and am excited to read more of your posts. I'm finding the Substack community a welcoming space and am glad to be here.
Regarding Nick Drake, the power of his music for me is, despite how deceptively minimal and sparse it may sound, the emotional depth dives deep and lives with you. To do that in such a succinct way is truly masterful. Elliott Smith also possessed that gift (of course, he too was inspired by Drake).
My personal favourite too, thanks to one of your mixtapes. Consequently, this was also one of the very first songs I decided to learn on guitar. My dad gave me his old guitar around the time you gave me the tape.
My favorite Nick Drake song! I remember trying to learn this one on guitar and finding it very difficult. A short and simple song with incredibly complex artistry.

Thank you for this post. I agree less is often more and artists such as Nick Drake are prime examples.
