Cedric Smith worked with Loreena McKennit on her early albums, doing background vocals. He also was the voice of Professor Xavier in the mid-90s animated version of the X Men.
This was a great article Michael, and a fine introduction to what sounds like an intriguing record. I plan to make time to listen to it in its entirety to see what I make of it. It certainly sounds like the album would’ve been right up my alley in my younger days, whether fortified by psychedelics or not.
As far as I’m aware I’ve only ever heard one PCC track (which I thoroughly enjoyed) as ‘If You Can Want’ appears on the phenomenal 2019 crate digging compilation album Sad About The Times.
Great stuff, Michael, both the writing and the music. Thiis is new for me and I'm enjoying what I've heard so far. Sometimes I just want to go horizontal, I mean just explore a year or brief era and forget about what came before or after. I've been a bit like that with 1970/71 recently, partly driven by diving into the Trees box set. Just to explore the folk/rock/psych outpourings from around the eworld at that time would be quite the project. Thanks for this.
"Woman For All Seasons" is the only PCC song I'm really familiar with, or enough to have wanted to stumble upon the album it's on during my weekly digging at my favourite Vancouver spot for finding psych and rock castaways. I did see a copy of this there, can't remember what they were asking for it...seems like I should'e taken the chance!

The CBC did a documentary on the PCC a few years ago on a music-themed radio program, so that was how I found out they existed...

This looks seriously interesting. I'm going to need quite a tract of time to get through it though!
